On tumors and tumorous growth

Recently, several people diagnosed with cancer have been asking about Chinese herbal remedies.

Strictly speaking, “cancer” refers to “a malignant tumor of potentially unlimited growth that expands locally by invasion and systemically by metastasis.” (Merriam-Webster’s Medical Dictionary)  There are malignant tumors and benign tumors.  Misdiagnosis of cancer still occurs.

Alternative medicine strives to arrest the tumor’s “unlimited growth that expands locally by invasion and systemically by metastasis” and attempts to shrink the tumor.

One of the first herbal remedies specifically for cancer was Essiac formulated by a Canadian nurse.  Rene Caisse, R.N. ran her compassionate cancer clinic in Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada, 1922, free of charge, dispensing her cancer cure ESSIAC, her name spelled backwards.

ESSIAC contains burdock root (Arctium lappa), slippery elm (Ulmus fulva), sheep sorrel (Rumex acetosella), and Indian rhubarb (Rheum palmatum).

In Chinese herbal medicine, we talk about regulating and arresting imbalances in  cell growth.  In Western alternative medicine, we talk about shrinking tumors by starving them.  Practitioners of alternative medicine have learned that tumors can be shrunk by denying them blood supply.  Tumors shrink when they cannot feed.

There are Chinese and Western herbs, natural supplements and combinations that can arrest tumorous growth and shrink tumors.

Specifically for endometriosis, a combination of Dong Quai and Vitex (Chasteberry) in high doses will eliminate uterovaginal adenomatosis, adenomyosis, and adenomyoma.

There is a combination of Pygnogenol, Cat’s Claw and Shark Cartilage that alleviates severe arthritic pain and shrinks tumors.

The most famous Chinese herb that is said to fight cancer is the Reishi mushroom or Ling Zhi.  One can easily find it in any Chinese herb store.   There are two species of Ling Zhi:  Red Ling Zhi and Black Ling Zhi.  For fighting cancer, the Red Ling Zhi is usually the one suggested by Chinese herbalists.

There are some who have become strict vegetarians after being diagnosed.  This lifestyle change in combination with natural supplements seems to slow the rapid growth and the malignancy of cancer.

If one is forced to undergo chemotherapy or take chemotherapy pills, there are some natural supplements that can effectively alleviate the side effects of the poisonous therapy.  One such combination of natural supplements is Pygnogenol, Cat’s Claw and Shark Cartilage.  Another is the Red Ling Zhi mushroom (Reishi mushroom).

Ling Zhi is the mushroom Ganoderma lucidum.

The Chinese herb stores sell the entire dried mushroom. There are also capsules now that consist of the Ganoderma lucidum spore and Ganoderma lucidum mycelium.

Like ginseng, the Ganoderma lucidum mushroom (Ling Zhi) is a general health supplement and a general immunity booster. However, the Ling Zhi is known to shrink tumors in about two weeks. It is also known to ward off the bad side effects of prescription medications and chemo pills.
