Indigestion

In response to the enquiry: “Can iced tea cause indigestion?”

Indigestion is the inability to digest food. To digest means to break down and convert food into absorbable form.

Iced tea can cause acid reflex in the stomach and heartburn. It also causes bloating. Bloating is the result of gas being released by the contents in the stomach.

Iced tea cannot cause indigestion. In other words, iced tea cannot cause the inability to digest, i.e., to break down and convert food into absorbable form.

“Iced tea and indigestion” is a very common expression used in the 1950s by grandma. In the 1950s, “indigestion” also referred to a “stomachache.” Grandma would say: “You have a stomachache? You have indigestion!”
