IBD on the rise in China

IBD is inflammatory bowel disease. There have been a rapid increase in IBD in China over the past ten years. According to Chinese health officials, the rise can be attributed to the widespread use of refrigerators in homes and the increase in leftover foods being left too long in the iceboxes.

The Chinese health authorities said the use of TNF alpha to treat IBD is successful.

TNF alpha is the tumor necrosis factor, aka cachexin, cachectin. It can inhibit tumorigenesis and viral replication. Dysregulation of TNF production in the body has been implicated in IBD.
