Horseshoe crabs emerge in a Chinese rice field

In Laishou village, Xijiao Xiang, Tianpeng township, Pengzhou city, Chengdu municipality, in Sichuan province, a massive number of “half shrimp, half fish” creatures have suddenly emerged in a rice field.

According to a local farmer, such creatures have been emerging in thay particular rice field after the May 12, 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake in Sichuan province.

A detailed description of their physical characteristics matched the creature known as the horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus.
