Pulmonary plague in China

The health authority of Jiuquan City in Gansu province reported on July 16, 2014, one suspected case of plague. On July 17, the health authorities of Gansu province, Jiuquan City and Yumen City determined that it was a case of “pulmonary plague.” The patient died on July 16. All 151 people who came into contact with the patient had been quarantined.

It was reported that the patient had come into contact with a marmot. The health authorities urged people to avoid contact with marmots and avoid skinning and eating marmots.
