Taipei city has a higher number of occurrences of amebic dysentery, bacillary dysentery and hepatitis A than the average number of occurrences throughout Taiwan.
In Taipei, the average occurrence of amebic dysentery is 1.9/100,000 people, the average occurrence of bacillary dysentery is 1.5/100,000 people, and the average occurrence of hepatitis A is 1.7/100,000 people.
The average occurrence of amebic dysentery throughout Taiwan is 1.5/100,000 people, the average occurrence of bacillary dysentery throughout Taiwan is 0.8/100,000 people, and the average occurrence of hepatitis A throughout Taiwan is 0.7/100,000 people.
Among the cases of “imported” amebic dysentery and bacillary dysentery, there are more women than men, and they are mostly Southeast Asians and Indonesian female workers who came to Taiwan as domestic help and imported foreign laborers. Among the foreign laborers in Taiwan, hepatitis A is equally common among the men and the women.
Among the local cases of amebic dysentery, bacillary dysentery and hepatitis A, there are more males than females, with some HIV AIDs patients. The doctors are guessing that these HIV AIDs patients acquire these diseases from “mouth to anus” sex.
