Hong Hai may get 65.9% of Sharp shares and replace CEO

Taiwan’s Hong Hai may get 65.9% of Sharp Electronics Corporation shares, according to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun of March 8, 2016, and 9 out of the 13 seats of its board of directors.  As majority shareholder, Hong Hai will be in a position to name the chairman and chief executive officer of Sharp.  Current chairman and chief executive officer Kozo Takahashi may be replaced at the June shareholders’ meeting by Hong Kai’s own Taiwanese CEO Dai Cheng-wu.  Hong Hai and Sharp operate the Sakai Display Products Corporation (SDP) in Osaka, and Hong Hai may choose SDP’s chairman Katsuaki Nomura, SDP’s president Taimi Oketani, and SDP’s executive vice president Tashiaki Takayama to become board members.
