Yeah! Taiwan needs more cadavers

In 1999, 247 deceased donated their cadavers to 7 medical colleges, and in 2015, 558 deceased donated their cadavers.  On average, 15 medical students have one cadaver for study.  But at the Buddhist Tzu Chi University, 70 percent of the cadavers are from members of the Tzu Chi Buddhist associations.  The supply of cadavers is stable, and every 4 students have one cadaver to study.  It is said that the Buddhist Tzu Chi University’s medical training is much higher in quality than the national medical colleges and universities of Taiwan.

Although Chinese folk tradition is to bury the dead, Buddhists practice cremation which releases the soul from the shackles of the physical body of flesh and blood.
