Taiwan has an over supply of post graduate degree holders

In January and February, 2016, Taiwan has 1,228,000 Ph.D. and Master’s degree holders. In July, 2012, there were 1,000,000 of them.  In January and February, 2016, 27,000 of them are unemployed, or 3.1%.  In 2011,  20,000 of them were unemployed.  The unemployment rate of vocational high school and vocational college graduates is 2.97%.

In January and February, 2016, the job participation rate among those with graduate school degrees was 71.8%.  It was 73.15% during the same two months of 2015.

The city of Tainan is holding its first job fair of 2016 with 86 businesses offering 6,300 job opportunities.  Most of these jobs are in the Southern Science Park in Tainan.
