Don’t eat other people’s pets

Don’t eat other people’s pets

Thirty animal rights groups gathered 50,000 signatures to petition for a revision of Taiwan’s animal rights law.

Here are some rather humorous literal translations of the names of a few animal rights organizations.  “Taiwan Tree Man Association”, “Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Taiwan”, “Association to Protect Animals of the Republic of China”, “Society for the Promotion of Animal Welfare and Environmental Protection of the Republic of China”, “The Heart of Taiwan Association for Loving and Caring of Animals”, “Chinese Garden Association for Feral Animals”, “Chinese Mama Chang Home for Feral Animals”, “New Taipei City Association of Care for the Lives of Feral Animals”, and the  “Association of Taiwanese Cats, Dogs and People”.

The “Chinese Garden Association for Feral Animals” can also be rendered as the “Chinese Feral Animals Garden Association”, the “Chinese Mama Chang Home for Feral Animals” can also be rendered as “Home of Feral Animals of Chinese Mama Chang”, and the “Association of Taiwanese Cats, Dogs and People” can be rendered as the “Association of Taiwanese Cats, Dogs and Humans” or the “Association of Taiwanese Cats, Dogs and Human (Owners)”.

The proposed revisions include a stipulation that the sale and killing of dogs and cats not for scientific research and the sale for business profit or for human consumption of cats and dogs will be subject to imprisonment and fines.

Yeah!  Don’t eat other people’s pets now!  Ye hear!
