Kaohsiung finds hantavirus infections

Within the past two months of March and April, 2016, the city of Kaohsiung has found three cases of hantavirus infections with viral hemorrhagic fever.  The most recent case of that of a 57-year-old male, and in March, a 76-year-old woman was infected, and a person living with the old woman was also infected.  All three lived within 200 meters from a market where 8 rats were caught, 7 of them gutter rats.  Among the 8 rats caught, 2 were found to carry the hantavirus.
