Low dose radioactive iodine therapy
The Chiayi Christian Hospital announced on August 2, 2016, the successful use of low dose radioactive iodine therapy after surgery to ablate residual thyroid cancer tissue.
Eight years ago, an adult man was found to have thyroid cancer after a PET scan. The cancer was removed surgically but the thyroid cancer cells were found to have shifted and moved into the lymph nodes. Doctors then suggested the use of low dose radioactive iodine to ablate the residual tissue.
