Taiwan’s cancer death rates

The top ten cancer deaths on Taiwan in 2015 according to the Taiwan Health and Welfare Ministry are:

(1)  Bronchial and lung cancers: 25 deaths per day.

(2)  Liver cancers: 23 deaths per day.

(3)  Colorectal cancers:  16 deaths per day.

(4)  Female breast cancer:  6 deaths per day.

(5)  Oral cancer:  7 deaths per day.

(6)  Prostate cancer:  3 deaths per day.

(7)  Stomach cancer:  6 deaths per day.

(8)  Spleen cancer:  5 deaths per day.

(9)  Esophageal cancer:  5 deaths per day.

(10)  Cervical and ovarian cancers:  2 deaths per day.

Interesting cancer statistics

In 2015, on Taiwan, there were a total of 46,829 cancer deaths, 28,776 were men and 18,053 were women.

Taking 70 years as the average statistical life expectancy, the health and welfare ministry has calculated the number of years of life lost due to cancer.  (1)  Female breast cancer reduces life expectancy by 15.5 years.  (2)  Oral cancer reduces life expectancy by 15.5 years.  (3)  Cervical cancer reduces life expectancy by 15.3 years.  (4)  Esophageal cancer reduces life expectancy by 14.6 years.  (5)  Colorectal cancer reduces life expectancy by 12.9 years.  (6)  Stomach cancer reduces life expectancy by 12.8 years.  (7)  Liver cancer reduces life expectancy by 12 years.  (8)  Lung cancer reduces life expectancy by 11.5 years.  (9)  Cancer of the spleen reduces life expectancy by 11.3 years.  And (10) prostate cancer reduces life expectancy by 6.6 years.
