Apparently on Taiwan, the mother makes the final decision about organ donation by any family member.
On August 8, 2016, the Taiwan Organ Donation and Transplantation Registry made public a survey of the attitude towards organ donation of the Taiwanese people. Among medical workers, 78.5% are willing to donate but only 33.5% of them have signed organ donation agreements and permission papers. Among the general public, 69.2% are willing to donate but only 12.5% have signed organ donation agreements and permission papers.
Married women over 30 years old are usually the ones to decide whether to donate their deceased husband’s and deceased children’s organs.
