Tsing Hua to take in Hsinchu University of Education
Taiwan’s National Tsing Hua University will officially take in Hsinchu University of Education on November 1, 2016. The Hsinchu University will vacate its campus, and Tsing Hua University will create two colleges, a Hsinchu teachers’ education college and an arts college. Admission will begin in 2017 for the 2017 academic year.
Currently, the student to teacher ratio at the National Tsing Hua University is 19:1 and the Hsinchu University of Education is 22:1. After Tsing Hua absorbs Hsinchu University of Education, the targeted student to teacher ratio will be set at 16:1.
This is good news. Now that Taiwan’s national universities have been opened to recruiting foreign students, this “merger” is potentially good news for foreign students who want a good university education. Tsing Hua University is one of Taiwan’s most prestigious national universities. Tsing Hua produces Taiwan’s nuclear engineers and scientific talent.
