Are you happy?
Are you happy now with President Tsai Ing-wen and her new Democratic Progressive Party’s government in office for a full six months as of November 20, 2016?
Yahoo Taiwan surveyed 19,942 responses gathered on November 20-23, 2016. The question asked was: Are you happy now with President Tsai Ing-wen and her new government in office for a full six months?
The poll showed 77.6% are “very unhappy”, 12.9% are “not too happy”, 3.9% are “relatively happy”, 3.3% are “very happy”, and 2.3% “do not know”.
Of all the people who responded to the poll, 73.9% are male and 24.1% are female.
Although 3/4 of the responses were from men and only 1/4 of the responses were from women, no explanation was given. However, at present, low wages, long work hours, unemployment are major concerns and men are overwhelmingly the sole bread earner in the average household. Fatigue from work, in some cases with lethal consequences, has become a serious health problem of many middle aged male workers in Taiwan.
