Yeah! Taiwan to have really fat soldiers!
Prior to 2016, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense allowed recruitment of both men and women with a BMI under 30. In 2017, the new rules say men with a BMI of 31 are eligible for military recruitment physical screening but women must have a BMI of no more than 26 to be eligible. Critics say this is discrimination against women.
Yeah! Underweight is a BMI less than 18.5. Healthy weight is a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9. Overweight is a BMI between 25 and 29.9. And obese is a BMI of over 30.
According to this scale, Taiwanese men eligible for military recruitment physical screening will be obese with a BMI of 31, and Taiwanese women eligible for military recruitment physical screening will be overweight with a BMi of 26.
Taiwan’s new recruits will be obese men and overweight women. In other words, they will be very fat men and fat women recruits.
