Taiwanese mother’s average age giving birth to first child is 30.7 years old

In 2016, a Taiwanese mother’s average age giving birth to her first baby is 30.7 years old. In 2007, the average age of a mother giving birth to her first baby was 28.5 years old.

In 2016, 50.9% of all birthing mothers gave birth to a first child, 37.8% gave birth to a second child, and 11.3% gave birth to a third child.

In 2016, 48,817 mothers giving birth were between 25 and 29 years old, constituting 23.51% of the total number of mothers giving birth in 2016, 82,738 mothers giving birth were between 30 and 34 years old, constituting 39.85% of the total number of mothers giving birth in 2016, and 48, 276 mothers giving birth were between 35 and 39 years old, constituting 23.25% of the total number of mothers giving birth in 2016.  The average age of a birthing mother in 2016 was 31.85 years old.  In 2007, the average age of a birthing mother was 29.53 years old.  The average age of a birthing mother has become older by 2.32 years of age from 2007 to 2016.  Based on the percentages above, only (100% – 23.51% – 39.85% – 23.25%) = 13.39% of mothers giving birth in 2016 were under 30 years old.  The overall average age of birthing mothers in 2016 was 31.9 years old.

In 2016, 58.3% of all mothers giving birth to a first child were over 30 years old.  In 2007, 37.0% of all mothers giving birth to a first child were over 30 years old.  This is an increase of 21.3% from 2007 to 2016.

In 2016, 207,600 babies were born, 5,493 babies less than were born in 2015.  This is an annual drop of 2.58% in the number of births.
