Taiwan has 3,224 people over 100 years old

Taiwan has 3,224 men and women over 100 years old, consisting of 1,483 men or 45.9987593% and 1,741 women or 54.001241%.

Taiwan’s total population is 23,558,367, and 0.01368516% (3,224 / 23,558,367 x 100 =0.01368516%) are over 100 years old.

An Executive Yuan survey done some years ago of 50,000 Taiwanese over 90 years old shows that 50% of them are illiterate, 90% live in their own homes, 60% are cared for mainly by family members who are themselves often in their 80’s and relatives, 60% feel healthy, 70% are content and happy with their life, and 70% have enough or more than enough financially.

On average, Taiwanese people over 65 years old use hospital emergency room services 0.43 times a year and are hospitalized 0.4 times a year.  Those over 100 years old use hospital emergency room services 1.3 times a year and are hospitalized 1 time a year.
