Tri-Service General Hospital opens genomics center

Taiwan’s Tri-Service General Hospital opened its new Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics on November 28, 2017.

The precursor of the center was the hospital’s genomics research laboratory set up in 2008.  The lab started out with research in genomics and proteinology for application in genetic testing for cancers in women.  The new center will dedicate itself to clinical precision medicine and individualized chemotherapy, genetic mutations in non-hereditary diseases, and molecular transmutations, electrolyte metabolism, hereditary kidney diseases and kidney inflammation, urinary tract cancer and immunology to develop methodology in precision clinical diagnosis and screening of new medications for future application in testing DNA abnormalities in treating cancer, diagnosis of rare diseases and hereditary diseases.
