Alcoholism in Taiwan

A Taiwanese hospital survey shows that 41% of people drink to get rid of insomnia.

There are 13% who are ordered by the courts to receive treatment for alcoholism, 11% have been forced by relatives and friends to receive treatment for alcoholism and to stop drinking, 8% of women alcoholics seek treatment for fear of being sexually assaulted while drunk, and 5% seek treatment after suffering a brain stroke from drinking.
